As soon as I rebooted, I got a good 3G signal with no issues. experienced, there was no change, UNTIL I rebooted the phone. Here are two other threads on Ting's help site about this issue: Brad - if you're working with a different Ting rep, make sure they are also aware there are others with the problem. I will make sure Taylor is aware of Brad's phone having the same issue. Not my first choice but I'll give it a try after the SIM arrives. Ting has sent me a SIM to try out their GSM network. I'm convinced that Ting doesn't have a single Moto X Pure Edition 2015 operating with 3G data on their entire CDMA network. I'd test the theory but I don't have access to another phone that uses the same SIM. Makes me wonder if such a process would work for us. I found it interesting that for Eric to get his phone to work on Verizon required the rep to activate the SIM in another phone first and then to switch it to the Moto X. I chose Sprint but it makes me wonder if Motorola's initial carrier setup is somehow causing the problem. Given that, my Airave success, Eric's success in switching to Verizon, your phone doing the same thing, the fact that I posted on various website and found no one on any of the big 4 carriers that had this problem (in fact, I've found no one but Ting customers that are experiencing this problem), and Sprint's investigation into their network, leads to one conclusion - something is not right with assigned permissions or settings during activation.ĭid you guys order your phone directly from Motorola or pick it up from Amazon? When ordering, I was forced to choose a carrier and Ting wasn't one of the options. I've now had two of these phones and both experienced the same problem. I picked up an Airave and guess what? My 3G data works fine while connected to the Airave. Here's one interesting observation: While diagnosing the problem, Ting recognized that signals to my house are weak and recommended an Airave (mini cell tower connected to my internet). Ting has agreed to resubmit the problem to Sprint. Your post here will help reinforce that fact. I didn't agree and I think I've convinced Ting it's not the phone. Unfortunately, Sprint has found nothing wrong with the network and returned the trouble ticket to Ting with instructions to factory reset the phone and if that doesn't work, then to return the phone. Ting's Taylor Caldwell took over my trouble ticket and has been working with Sprint to resolve the issue. I have no issues with the Nexus 5 on my account. It will not activate on a pure LTE connection or a 1x connection. I was traveling on vacation last week in the eastern part of the U.S. They thought the problem had been resolved but then we lost the connection and couldn't get it back. They turned off Automatic Restore in backup settings before we started and as soon as the phone activated, I had a strong 3G for just about a minute. Motorola's Level 2 tech support had me do a factory reset while they were remotely connected to the phone. I posted on the XDA Developers forum about this issue and one other user in India reported a similar problem with Vodafone. If I am in an area without LTE, the phone works fine for voice, text and 1x data (very very slow) but no 3G data. However, sometimes it reports it as "inactive". If I set my phone on 3G, I get no data and most of the time my SignalCheck Pro app reports the connection as "unregistered". My phone works for voice, text, LTE and 1x data, just not 3G. Yes I have LTE in my area and I've been traveling a lot recently both in and out of LTE areas.
